Nintendo, which only just recently released its first game for iOS, is looking to continue its efforts on the platform. Speaking at the company’s annual general shareholder meeting, Nintendo’s general manager of entertainment planning and development, Shinya Takahashi, explained that the company is looking to dedicate a large portion of its resources to smartphones and tablets (via Polygon). Takahashi said that one area Nintendo is looking to invest in specifically is physical controllers for smartphones and tablets....

Apple’s iOS United States smartphone market share slide 12 percent in the year’s first quarter, which helped Google’s Android to capture nearly two-thirds of the market. According to CNET, market research firm NPD Group placed Android’s U.S. market share at 61 percent, which is a dramatic gain from the holiday quarter’s 49 percent. Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS slid from 41 percent in Q4 2011 to 29 percent in Q1 2012. It is assumed Apple’s October iPhone 4S launch boosted the holiday sales, but Android eventually reclaimed its Q3 2011 crown once the new year settled....

Nintendo might be developing a cheaper, portable-only version of the Switch. It should be evident by now that the console is performing incredibly well for Nintendo. The company only just announced sales figures for the Switch console as of December 31, 2018, with the platform clocking in at an impressive 32.27 million units sold since it launched in March 2017. Despite the success of the console, Nintendo is sure to be looking at further ways to build that base to generate even more revenue from a product that’s already the fastest-selling console this generation....

When Apple unveiled its swimproof Apple Watch Series 2, it showed off a special Nike+ edition, which will be available in a choice of four colors. It told us that the price would be the same as the standard version, at $369, but didn’t tell us when it would go on sale. Today we get two new spots posted to the company’s YouTube account that highlight the Windows Phone Cortana assistant feature while mocking Apple’s Siri feature in the process. The first ad called “Lost” highlights Cortana’s ability to automatically remind users when to leave for appointments based of calendar and traffic data. The second spot, titled “Remind Me”, shows Cortana sending reminder notifications associated with texts and calls they are receiving....

Nintendo has decided to remove Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes from Belgium over the country’s concerns about the legality of loot boxes. Belgium, along with the Netherlands, decided to take a closer look at the inclusion of loot boxes in video games after player backlash emerged over loot boxes and microtransactions in titles such as Star Wars Battlefront 2, FIFA 18, Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. After careful investigation, both countries concluded that loot boxes are a form of illegal gambling....

When it comes to imaging, the Note II in my pocket is pretty terrible. It’s worse that my old phone, the iPhone 4, and while at first this upset me, I’ve come to accept it and have simply stopped taking as many pictures.
